About This Spot

Stepping into New York City Sub Shop in the heart of Jackson, you immediately sense a buzz of earnest, uncomplicated energy. This isn’t a place for lingering over a slow meal, but rather a spot where the rhythm of the day — whether bustling morning or quiet afternoon — sets a pace that feels genuine and purposeful. The friendly hum of conversation blends with the swift, practiced hands behind the counter, creating an atmosphere that’s warm yet brisk, the kind of spot where locals and visitors alike stop in with a clear intention: good food made with care, ready to take with you on your day’s adventures.

The essence of New York City Sub Shop can be found in its genuine simplicity — no frills, but plenty of heart. The air carries an inviting mix of freshly baked bread and savory fillings, reminding you of the classic deli tradition transplanted from the city’s streets to Wyoming’s mountain town. The subs here come wrapped not just in paper but in a sense of authenticity that feels rare. Whether it’s the comforting richness of pastrami or the satisfying heft of a cheesesteak, each bite carries a quiet joy, like a familiar tune played well.

The pace of service matches the place perfectly — efficient, attentive, and without unnecessary polish, inviting you to be part of the flow rather than a bystander. There's a grounded friendliness in the staff that makes this spot feel neighborhood-rooted, even for those passing through. You can sense the pride in what they do, reflected in the careful layering of flavors and the warm exchanges at the counter.

For those looking to pause or grab a quick hearty bite, this sub shop offers a comfortable kind of satisfaction. It’s where the bread is tender but substantial, the meats folded with a thoughtful balance, and the little extras like crisp salads and house-made cookies round out the experience without overwhelming it. Bring a little patience, and you’ll find a place that serves more than food — it serves a slice of real, everyday life in Jackson.

We walked up and ordered two subs and two salads. We each got a half Midtown sandwich and although expensive, they tasted good. We got the Village and the Central Park salads. The person taking the order was nice. However, if you use a credit card, they ask you up front for a tip before they run it. They don’t give you a receipt, so ask if you want one. I thought that it would be provided in the bag, it wasn’t there… sketchy. Now I have to waste my time double checking my credit card and doing math to make sure they didn’t take advantage of me on my tip amount.

We loved the place but could tell the staff was in a hurry to get us taken care of and on to the next person. I've lived in the area for many years and have always heard how good the subs are, and you are right, everything we ordered was delicious. We just didn't know the process and with three handicapped persons, explanations where misunderstood and the patience on both employees and customer were rushed. Having my wife in a wheelchair with a brain injury was one complication, the other, elderly father couldn't hear what was being said and I could barely hear behind the glass what the order takers were saying. Thank you anyway, we had a great meal.

Some of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Stopped here before driving out of town. I was shocked how simple yet amazing these subs were. The art is also super fun. Great, happy vibes.

Extremely friendly staff. It was delicious and the bread was fantastic. Got a Cheesesteak and a Bronx before we headed in to the Park and carried them with us for lunch. Could not recommend this place more.

I’ve had a lot of subs in my life, and a lot in very reputable places known for their subs like Connecticut, New York, and New Hampshire, and they were good, memorable even for some, but this place… this place somehow bests every other sub I’ve ever eaten. EASILY the best sub I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. The bread was like two pillows, encapsulating the most cosmically perfect blend of fresh ingredients and flavors. Every bite had me questioning my concept of what I had previously known to be ‘good’ or even ‘great’, as this was an experience I won’t soon forget. Well balanced, the flavors all complementing each other. I don’t think I could replicate something so perfect, even if I had trained for years to make the perfect sub, it wouldn’t come near. Kudos, you guys changed my world.

New York City Sub Shop is a Jackson Hole classic. Big, bold, and packed with flavor—the kind of subs that actually fill you up and make you smile. Fresh bread, quality meats and cheeses, and all the toppings stacked just right. The staff keep things moving quickly even when it’s busy, and the portions are more than fair for the price (a rarity in a resort town!). Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch before hitting the slopes or fueling up after a long hike, this is the spot. Local favorite for good reason.
